The Local Area Traffic Management program (LATM) Program is a request-based program used to improve the quality and safety of neighborhood streets by installing traffic calming devices along the requested street segments. These devices may include, but are not limited to, speed humps, speed tables, speed cushions, roundabouts, median islands, chicanes and bulb-outs.
The program is currently undergoing revisions to address minimum qualification criteria, appropriateness of devices based on street context, and neighborhood outreach concerns. Speed mitigation is expected to resume upon completion of a revamped speed mitigation process. A package of Austin Transportation's overall speed management program will be brought forth to Council and the public for broad community outreach in 2019.
