Assistant City Manager Rodney Gonzales has appointed Denise Lucas as Director of the Development Services Department. She currently serves as Interim Director of the Department. Prior to this role, Denise served in multiple roles within the City of Austin, including Deputy Chief Information Officer, Enterprise Application and Business Transformation Services, and Deputy Purchasing Officer.
Denise holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Business Management from St. Edwards University, Austin, TX, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management from Friends University, Wichita, Kansas. She is a mentor for the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), and a member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA).
Denise will oversee the department supporting cross-departmental projects and issues involving external stakeholders. She will continue building relationships and teams, working across City departments and diverse communities to help negotiate and resolve sensitive, significant and controversial development related issues.
